On Sunday 13th July 2014 Stoke Gifford TKD hosted at small junior competition at the Trust hall, Stoke Gifford. The club was joined by local UK ITF clubs Thornbury TKD & Fishponds TKD. Cardiff Martial Arts also travelled across the bridge to be part of the day. All of the clubs competing supported with Officials &  Ms Vicky Hart also travelled from Nottingham to help umpire.

The aim of the competition was to encourage new students to get a taste of the competition world & also to raise funds for the club sponsorship account which will help to send future Stoke Gifford competitors to International tournaments.

As always the club was very well supported by parents & students that gave their time up to help in many ways to include providing refreshments, taking photo’s washing cars, selling raffle tickets, umpiring & event staffing.

Flying kick

The day started promptly with the 4-6 year olds testing their skills in high kick, long kick & a set combo. It was really great to see the young talent shining through with some very confident performances.

Jumping kicks

Next up were the junior categories ranging from 7-13 year olds, 10th kup – 1st Degrees. Once again it was evident that there was some real emerging talent with many to look out for as future National & maybe International champions.

Kieran & Emily

The day was broken up with demonstrations by the three Stoke Gifford students who will be travelling as part of Team UK to the World Championships in Rome. Emily & Kieran showed off their skills in both patterns & sparring which was a great example for the younger students to aspire to. Phoebe also proving a great role model as an Instructors Assistant showing her power in smashing wood with the techniques that she will perform at the World Championships.
